Community News 1991

1991 was marked by the driest summer in living memory with less than an inch of rain from July 1st to near the end of September. Temperatures were very warm.

This year we lost two valued neighbors: Carl Ockerman and Sig Peterson. But we were also blessed with two new babies: Tyson John Ockerman, son of Orin and Donna Ockerman ( born April 26, 1991) and Robyn Linda Ockerman, daughter of Glen and Cathy Ockerman ( born Dec 17, 1991).

Mrs. Ella Livingston, a former resident, moved from Elk Point to Athabasca.

High School graduates were Stacy Dunham, Angie Nelson, Gail Fakeley, and Arne Irvine. Brenda Nelson graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Commerce degree.

Richard Nelson won a trip for two to the Toronto Winter Fair.

Krista Seward won the whist tournament. She also was the aggregate winner in the Junior Fair section of the Elk Point Agricultural Fair.

The cribbage tournament was won by Mary Nelson and Ellen Seward was second.
